73Cure for Insomnia, Sleep Deprivation, to Get a Good Nights Sleep Tonight!
By Dale Ovenstone: Would it be nice just to drop off to sleep whenever you want to? Well now you can, read on & find out how you can get a good nights sleep tonight!
Sleep deprivation, or insomnia problems, caused by activity on the brain, is a very common factor that WILL keep you awake at night long!
Sleep is vital for our body to recharge, enabling us to function when we are supposed to be wide awake, but unfortunately, many seem wide awake when they really want to sleep! .
Before we delve into activity of the mind causing insomnia further, let us consider other factors for not resting & sleeping efficiently.
Here’s one of the most obvious reasons. You must be tired first! Now I got that out of the way let’s look at more excuses for insomnia.
There are just two factors to consider when attempting sleeping. Number one is to become comfortable & relaxed physically. The second factor is to become relaxed mentally!
Within this article we will consider both these elements & I hope my words will rock you into a dreamland state of ecstatic bliss.
Physical factors for inducing sleeping
1: Make sure you’re tired
2: Make sure you have been to the loo.
3: Make sure no exterior sounds (or possible light) affect you, wear ear plugs
4: Make sure you’re warm & comfortable & you won't be disturbed
5: Once lying down, make sure you relax your body totally from head to toe, by breathing slowly & deeply at first whilst consciously focusing on & relaxing each single muscle in turn with every breath you exhale.
This will take practice but once mastered over time, should take care of your physical needs required to sleep!
Mental (emotional) factors to not sleeping
Before I discuss the necessary requirements needed to induce sleep we shall take a walk through our mental abilities within such circumstances, as a relaxed mind is highly necessary for sleeping successfully.
There are many problems & concerns within a person’s life that some folk carry to the bed with them, thus finding it difficult to switch off their thoughts!
First & foremost, it is quite wise to give your ‘thought problems’ a minor chance to be considered within the quietness of one’s mind when relaxing. But that is when it should all stop after a short period of time, whereas one should disregard their problem only after a short while because by keeping yourself awake thinking of your concern will not aid you in performing adequately, both mentally, & physically, in your waking state, especially as your thought keeps you awake all night long.
1: So if anything is on your mind, analyze the situation once you are relaxed in bed, for only a short while, then totally discontinue with these thoughts altogether.
Where as, creators of your craft, as for instance, article writers & creators of information are concerned, & if your anything like me, you must make sure you have a pen & paper, or a voice recorder, handy, by your bedside table, to jot down any of your ideas, then let it all go out of your mind completely to free yourself for sleep to overcome you.
2: When something is on your mind & keeping you awake, write it down or record it to free your mind.
Activity on the brain & inducing sleep!
As we all know we have many states of brain activity! For inducing sleep our brain must become less active within the vibrations is creates. One of the ways that vibrations are created is by our thinking!
When we think our brains become active.
Sometimes our mind works overtime, even when we want to switch off & get a good night’s sleep. Even though, thoughts of anything can just creep into our imagination all by themselves, & these ideas creeping around our imagination can even become random thoughts, thus preventing us from sleeping.
It is only possible to experience one particular thought at any one given time. Our minds are just not created to hold many thoughts & ideas synchronistic-ally all at once.
What is required is for a mental training exercise to be performed & practiced over a period of time, for the effects of sleeping successfully, to kick in, & by following these techniques below very shortly, you should have no problems sleeping whenever you want to.
A monk has to train his mind to become empty, & in effect so will you too if you want to sleep. & for myself, I incorporate these techniques outlined below, & they work peach for me, even when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the loo, or kick out the burglars, & my brain starts firing off ideas & concerns etc. I can still switch off at random when ever I want to because of the way I have trained my mind.
3: Close your eyes & relax your body whilst getting any of your short time thinking out of the way, & then allow sleep to come over you, & gently transport you away to the land of nod.
4: See in your mind only blackness. Nothing else, only blackness! Thoughts may creep into your imagination, but just disregard them & focus back into the emptiness of blackness.
Keep practicing this ‘focusing of attention into the empty void of blackness technique’ as you are now training your mental focus abilities not just for sleep, but for every aspect of your life both mentally & physically in your waking day too.
5: Become aware of this blackness within your mind & relax your whole body into it as you feel the sensation of floating downwards & away from yourself, deeper & deeper into the black nothingness, drifting further & further away from yourself.
Ok, I hope you’re still awake right now, but also, this should help you when you begin to relax tonight, by curing your insomnia & aiding your restful sleep? Practice this mind technique & don’t give up hope just keep at it.
I thank you for reading this information & I would really love to know your thoughts in the comment box below. Let me know what you think. Regards Dale Ovenstone

Do you know what, I have used both relaxing every muscle and the focussing on blackness techniques in the past, forgotten both of them and not used either of them for years. I'm going to try them again right now.
Goodnight!

This hub is practical and useful, I realise many people do have problems getting a good nights sleep though I have nothing of that sort. I like your suggestion to keep pen, paper or voice recorder next to you... most of the best thoughts come at night and I am unable to remember them clearly in the mornings. I think it is time I adopted this practice though I have considered it a couple of times in the past, thanks for reminding. God Bless!
